The Bombard Society "Chef du Picnique" accompanies our team on our programs in France.  This position requires the skills of professional training, creative culinary talent, an eye for presentation, a cheerful and energetic personality, and the ability to live in a group environment.  A clean driving license and competence in both automatic and standard shift vehicles is a must.  A good working knowledge of conversational French is also beneficial but not required.

The Chef du Picnique's primary daily responsibility is the planning, purchase, preparation and creative presentation of buffet style picnics (10-40 persons) in various settings where we balloon, and preparation of a home style meal (6-20 persons) for staff.

The Chef du Picnique's job includes:

   -shopping for supplies in local shops and markets
   -keeping track of all food and beverage inventory
   -artful preparation of buffet/picnic lunches or dinners
   -attendance at these meals to serve and chat about the food
   -preparation of meals for staff
   -maintaining hygienic, well-organised kitchens
   -accounting for expenditures

All Bombard staff are expected to maintain a clean-cut personal appearance.

There are four working periods of approximately one month each year; three during our six month summer season, one covering our winter Alpine season.  Chef du Picnique contracts can be arranged for one or more of these working periods.  These periods are roughly:

  10 January through 15 February
  15 May through 24 June
  15 July through 13 August
  24 September through 13 October
